Ribbon Cutting - Black Bear Official Trail Designation
Join us as we celebrate the official designation of the Black Bear County Park trail segment as part of the Fonta Flora State Trail!
This special ribbon-cutting ceremony marks an exciting milestone in the continued growth of North Carolina's State Trail system. Following a brief ceremony, we'll take a short celebratory hike along the newly designated trail and place blazes along the trail.
Come help us recognize the partners, volunteers, and supporters who made this achievement possible—and celebrate another step toward connecting communities across Western North Carolina.

Come meet the team building the 100-mile Fonta Flora State Trail, and hear about the trail we’re building in Old Fort. We’re a goofy, fun bunch, and we love to talk trails. Invite a friend — let’s pack the house! Dog-friendly, family-friendly, hiker-friendly.

Fonta Flora Tails and Trails Quest
The Fonta Flora Tails & Trails Quest is a fun, interactive trail experience designed for families, kids, and even your four-legged hiking buddies. Participants will move along the Meadow Loop, stopping at engaging stations that highlight local nature, wildlife, and the vision of the Fonta Flora State Trail. It’s a great way to get outside, learn something new, and connect with your community. This event is free to attend, and while no registration is required, donations are warmly welcomed to help us continue building and connecting trails across Western North Carolina.
